The Act Relating to the Control of Communicable Diseases

The purpose of the Act is to protect the population against communicable diseases.

The intention of the Act Relating to the Control of Communicable Diseases (In Norwegian - Smittevernloven) is to protect the population against contagious diseases. The Act helps to ensure that the authorities are able to implement infection control measures and coordinate infection control efforts.  The Act helps to protect the rights of the individuals affected by control measures.

The County Social Welfare Board in Oslo and Akershus makes decisions about whether the conditions for compulsory medical examination and compulsory isolation of people with certain infectious diseases have been met.  Chapter 5 of the Act specifies the duties of infected persons, compulsory measures.
